Iowa Society for Healthcare Engineering

Hospital engineering is the art and science of efficiently planning, managing and maintaining the physical environment, equipment and telecommunications systems for health care. The Iowa Society for Healthcare Engineering is organized for educational purposes and is a personal membership group affiliated with the Iowa Hospital Association. Society membership is available to hospital engineering employees and related disciplines with administrative or supervisory responsibility and employed by an Iowa Hospital Association member hospital. 

The organization’s objectives are to promote quality patient care through improved engineering practices by:

  • Conducting regular meetings, conferences and education programs
  • Encouraging members to develop their knowledge of hospital engineering
  • Encouraging membership involvement and support in national organizations
  • Offering comments on proposed rules and regulations affecting hospital engineering 
  • Promoting the improvement of health care services by helping members exchange hospital engineering ideas
